Ravelinen review (English version)

09.08.2012, soma01

I decided to try out some of the local nearby restaurants, close to my apartment (Christianshavn) and picked up a local milestone restaurant Ravelinen that has been here since 1942. It’s located in an old mill built as early as 1728 and is a protected property. It has a large covered terrace, from where the view to the nearby lake is very nice and also nice indoor dining area for a bit colder weather. The menu is fairly limited, but the fresh local products are excellent. I chose the first course to be locally smoked fresh salmon with radish and herb cremecheese. It was a nice, good simple dish fresh and tasty. For a main I took Sole menoir that was served with nutty browned butter, new potatoes and green asparagus. Very nice dish with perfectly cooked fish and one of the best Sole menoirs I’ve had anywhere in the world ( and I have tried quite a few of them). Desert was deep fried Camembert,  served with some marmalade aside and fresh strawberries. The cost for the 3 course menu was 300 dkr. which is very reasonable price for such good food. On the many there is also a selection of Danish Smørrebrød, both cold and warm ones as well as a classic Wienershnitzel that is waiting to be tested later on…..

definitely a positive experience.
